Walter may be on to something here.... I remember hearing that Fox actually stores numeric fields as ascii characters, not binary, so maybe the seek routine is the same.
Of course, integer fields ARE stored as binary, so???....

>As I recall correctly (can't check this right now) this has been possible since FPD 2.0. VFP automatically translates the character into numeric when the index is numeric.
