The prior compilation of this program has been running just fine for a long time, even on PCs with the original release of Win98.

The solution here is to make sure that the various temporary are targetted to a directory on the C: and to re-compile all files.

Hi George,

Many thanks for the input. The problem was similar to what you described.

There was a .BMP file that was being used as wallpaper in one of the screens. When I copied the source code directory to my local drive on my Win98SE PC, I was able to get the project open. I then tried to open one of the screens in question for editing, and got an error opening the .BMP wallpaper file. However, when I opened the project from the network drive... no problems! After I re-compiled the project while working directly in the network drive, the Win98 original release PCs could again run the program without errors.

Still, it seems odd that before I got this problem resolved, PCs running Win98 original release could not run the program (as noted above) while Win98SE PCs had no problems running it. What even makes it more odd is that I also ran the program on a Win95 PC without encountering the error message. I guess there may be some differences in the kernel of Win95/98/98SE with regard to I/O Operations / Error handling. Who knows? It would be really interesting to see if even Bill Gates himself could give a plausible explanation! Thanks Again, CH.
