Well I have been going to extremes to ignore the guy. And I did tell him to never come to me for help any more after he turned around and wasted other folks time.

He brought me a zip disk that someone had sent him with artwork on it. I couldn't open the disk, it showed an error I had never seen. Finally tried to use Zip Tools to analyze disk. Showed it to be a Mac format. I returned the disk and told him so. It never occured to me that he probably wouldn't understand what that meant. So he turned around and went to a couple others asking if they could read the disk. Everyone else blew him off. But it did kinda piss me off.

Of course the thing he did that really pissed me off, was his attempt at showing off. He decided the chairs in the office were dirty. So he had a couple temps we use show up with a rented rug cleaner to clean the chairs, on a Fri, not the weekend. I needed to get into the server room to get the web server all set up with web connection and some pages along with a VFP Program. I was running back and forth from my office to the server, went lo and behold, the only chairs left in the server room were all wet from being cleaned. I laid into him bigtime in front of everyone.

DO you think after all this he'll find it strange if I start acting like his best buddy?

>ahhh yes, I know that type all too well. I've found from past experiences such as this the best thing to do is to act positive towards the moron, smile a lot, even quietly encourage him/her to be an even bigger moron whenever the thought occurs to them. Basically dont let on to said moron how obviously stupid and unprofessional their antics are, let them think 'its all good'. Then said moron lets their guard down and their arrogance take over... end result, you stand back and laugh while they hang themselves even faster than is to be expected. This has always worked like a charm for me and helps to ease the stress and tension on your side of the situation to boot.
