Since the project is a table, you could copy it to another table before compiling. Afterwards, you can open the project as a table, and compare the timestamps between the project and the copy. Look at the timestamps and, if they've changed, it means that that the file was recompiled. In the case of VCXs the TYPE column equals "V".
