You might find useful tool GenDBC that comes with VFP (VFP\Tools\GenDBC). This tool will generate VFP code needed to regenerate all views in an existing database. The nice thing about this program is that it will generate code to set _all_ properties related to a view (connection, field properties, and so on).
You can learn a lot just by looking at the source code generated.

Sometimes I have problems joining tables and figuring whether to group all the "join's" and then all the "on's" or viceversa and know in advance what the outcome of a 10 line sql statement will be.
