Yes, I guess Hawaii is a nice place. However, because I was born here I don't feel the attraction that people outside of Hawaii feel. I may be wrong but programming in Alaska (not saying that Alaska is a bad place) and programming in Hawaii are any different.

I've been doing FOX off and on a while, but, serious project started when I decided to really learn VFP. It's only been 2 years since I started larger VFP projects - many small programs with 2.6 before that. It's easy programming in VFP and the end result is always great.

I went to the MegaEvent held in Hawaii by Markus and Rick. It was a fantastic event but quite overwhelming for me. I did learn a lot, but, I mostly learned how much I didn't know.

Now when I sit infront of the keyboard, half my mind is on programming and the other half is in space trying to figure out how much information is out there I don't know and how long is it going to take me to learn even a fraction of it.

hmmmm ... just had a thought, maybe I'm not burnt out from programming, but more discouraged by the overwhelming information I feel I have to learn. I know I've become paranoid about not using the proper programming techniques (oop, com, ado ... it all works but am I doing it right? kind of thinking)

I'm gonna give this a little more thought ... thanks for changing my direction.

>>Hi All:
>>
>>What do y'all do when you have a large project, you program day-in and day-out, you look ahead and see more-more-more day-ins and day-outs, you look futher ahead and see a few more large projects waiting for you ... then finally, you don't even want to turn the computer on?
>>
>>I love to program, I love to figure things out, I love learning new things, and I love programming in VFP. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT THE DAY WOULD COME WHEN I'D GET SICK OF DOUBLE CLICKING THAT SMILEY FACED FOX ICON. It has!!
>>
>>Am I burnt out? No not me! NEVER! ... is what I used to feel. Is this a common thing amount programmers? What do you do when you don't feel like facing the FOX anymore?
>>
>>I can't just stop, so I force my self to open VFP ... the progress is now so slow it makes me even sicker: more of myself for feeling this way.
>>
>>Please advise, ANYTHING.

>>TIA

>Just remember you live in a pretty sweet place. Think about what it would be like if you programmed day in and day out with crappy whether and nothing to do but program.
>
>Some questions. I'm fairly young and have only been at this about 4 years. I've heard burn out starts to kick in around 10. How many years have you been programming?
>
>Also I've found that it helps me to look at the "littly picture" when invovled in a long project. Looking at the "big picture" can be very discouraging. Also, if you don't work for yourself, remeber that you get paid no matter how long the project takes.
