Actually the next day i found out what was happening.
The problem was caused by the collating sequence.
It was set to "Greek". So when clipper tried to open the tables, it reported an "Invalid key lenght error."
When I changed it to "Machine" (Set collate to "MACHINE") everything was fine.
So even if the indexes have been created by vfp the clipper can use them without a problem.
