I just set myself fairly realistic goals and I don't try to learn everything at oncce. Pick a subject you like and try it: you will learn something and get fresh ideas on how to design and code. Some of the subjects I picked: Design Patterns, Good Pratices, UI Design, XHTML. Try to pick books that explains WHAT IS instead of HOW TO because they are the one from which you will retain information.
