I have to do a join to get some of the data for the report and because of that if I just select * then some fields will be selected twice for some projects and once for others. That messes up my report. Since each project is different, I have to enter the list of fields in the query dynamically so the query holds the fields I need only once. I don't know how to do that.

I think what was meant by selecting "AS", was:
SELECT project.name AS field1, ;
project.code AS field2, ;
company.name AS field3.....
