I too was wondering about this and I almost fired a reply to DF to ask him about it. But then I got to thinking that he would have a hard time reading it so what was the point.
If the count does show, then prolific posters are going to have UI issues after a while. When I leave the UT on for long periods of time, the message count gets to be 2 and sometimes 3 digits long. It then has a tendency to scroll to the next line because of the frame width. Clicking on the Messages button or Go button clears this. If there is no way to clear your replies, then what is a user going to do?
