Have you tried installing the new ODBC drivers [version 2.5] from MS [MDAC_TYP.EXE]. This is just to simple a SQL for it to be failing as you say. I use the VFP ODBC to tap into a VFP DBC in a production app right now, and I never get such errors.
Where is the DBC and tables located? On a Novell drive? NT Shared drive? Do the users have sufficient privileges/rights to access the files? On Novell, the minimum rights are Read and File Scan [R/F].
