Let's put it this way. You have an application that you need to deploy to 1000 desktops in a corporation. Here is an example:

Delphi

1) Put EXE on server
2) email shortcut to all the users
3) User drags shortcut onto desktop

Total deployment time 5 minutes.

Visual Basic/Visual Foxpro
1) Put EXE on server
2) Visit all 1000 computers and install VFP/VB runtime

Total deployment time 1000x10min = 166 hours.
