I installed SP6a on the other PC and it crashed as well. I did a fresh NT 4 install on both PCs and now they work fine. My only guess as to what happened is that the previous service pack (SP3) was not updated after some driver or software was installed. Thanks for your help.

>My guess would be the new service installation. To correct that, you have to reinstall the service pack.
