Thanks again while that will def go into my book of how to do things that is not the case with this, the programmer hardcoded the sys admn userid and password directly into the project so I have all the access I need(they just can't change the sysadmn pass!!). It is probably something really silly that I am missing and I should just rebuild the whole prj but he had a few custom classes and alas I cannot locate those. Needless to say my client is being very sympathetic to me but the fact of the matter is this is a simple ODBC problem that I can not figure out, my next step is to create a test exe to test my ability to connect from VFP.
