The first search returns a cursor with the correct amout of hits but the memo field I return is empty, for example I have 23 hits do the browse and see 23 empty memo fields. (This could be related to the original index error)?

Thanks Michael,
You were right on with the correction for the error that was connected with long file names and directories. I did some renaming of the directories and the indexing works fine.
The second problem I was able to correct by making sure that the table I wanted to search was already opened and was the selected table. I never had to do this before. If I did a search and the table wasn't opened PHDBase opened it so I got lazy.
As far as not being able to get in touch with Jim, I'm very surprised, when he was developing PHBase I was always able to contact him by some means, now he's just ....???
