Yes When Sammy was picked up from the Sox they wanted to put him into the #2 spot in the lineup because at the time Shawn Dunston was sketchy and they needed a speed guy. As far as Sammys' playing goes I have no complaints other then i would rather see 10 less homers and 30-50 less strikeouts a year my only problem with him comes in the form of his attitude. As to your other point that was exactally it. My father always tells me the Cubs always have three things a couple of Has-Beens a couple of Will-Bes and a whole lot Minor league prospects. At times they have had their stars but for the most part the Cubs let the really good talent go and sign the talent that is on their last legs. But hey this is the Cubs and as any Chicagoan knows you love the Cubs not because they are great but because they are the Cubs.
