As far as Sammys' playing goes I have no complaints other then i would rather see 10 less homers and 30-50 less strikeouts a year my only problem with him comes in the form of his attitude. As to your other point that was exactally it. My father always tells me the Cubs always have three things a couple of Has-Beens a couple of Will-Bes and a whole lot Minor league prospects. At times they have had their stars but for the most part the Cubs let the really good talent go and sign the talent that is on their last legs. But hey this is the Cubs and as any Chicagoan knows you love the Cubs not because they are great but because they are the Cubs.

You don't have to tell me that.< g > I grew up in (as I call it) "The Big Town". Move here in '81 to for a job opportunity (I was 33 at the time). As a matter of fact, I'll be up that way (Libertyville) probably in October.

As far as Sammy's attitude goes, let me say this. I've never seen him not play hard. I think that's all any Chicagoan wants from the players on their professional teams. Besides, his work in the Dominican Republic, from what I know, is to be admired. So, I really can't fault him, either on or off the field.< s >
