I think you can safely assume that this announcement means that the contracts have been signed. That's how things like this typically work.

Having listened to a lot of these discussions over the years and being fairly ambivalent on the subject myself, I can say that I've heard both sides of the argument from members of the FoxPro community. Some people really welcome the opportunity to go to a place they wouldn't ordinarily get to visit, while others would prefer to spend less and find that a conference in a resort city is a hard sell to the boss.

To some extent, we're very fortunate in that we have both options available to us. The major conferences tend to be held in resort locations, while we do have the regional conferences that still offer top-level speakers, but at significantly reduced cost. The number of conference opportunities available compared to the size of the VFP community is actually pretty amazing.
