Hi Ed,

Just to clarify, (maybe I should set dense off, first <BG>)
I see the error 1548 message on a begin transaction statement.
The 'table' it identifies is actually a 'View'. The view is a single table view which does have 2 index tags on it in 2 separate .CDX files. These are created when the user clicks on the header of the grid column. I have looped through all workareas and identified all open index files. The only other index open on the base table is the structural .CDX file. No other workarea with a view that references the base table has an open index file.

When indexing a view, with INDEX ON expr TAG tagname, I was under the impression that a structural index would be created. Is this where I'm wrong? If not, the error message doesn't make sense to me.

BTW, I don't always get the error when I've indexed on more than one column. I'm so confused.
TIA,
Bill Armbrecht
