The field was filled in with code similar to: m.CreaDate = date() gather memvar memo ie. it was a 'pure' date, and there was no question about the format or it belonging to the right century. The solution was to copy the data to a temporay table. Delete the table in question. Copy the data back to an empty structure. And re-generate the indexes. Thanks for all of the suggestions. /Paul
