First off, this represents my first post in over 2 months...< bg >... No, this will not be a habit...< vbg >...However, since I stumbled on this topic, I felt compelled to comment... And after this, the self-imposed on-line exile from UT will be in effect again...

Grigore...

60 days after publication, the rights to a piece revert back to the author PERIOD.

You really need to contact each author.

Futher, Mr. Grove should have told you that. Pinnacle was very sloppy in the updating of their respective author agreements and contracts. I was under an agreement for only the last 6 months of my association with Pinnacle. My association with Pinnacle lasted 4 years.

With respect to the "spirit" of my association with Pinnacle, I have liberally interpreted things to mean that while I get the rights back to the work, Pinnacle still retains rights to make the work available to their subscription base. I however, retain the rights to have the work reprinted in another publication or reproduced in any manner I deem appropriate. And yes, I have excersise this option on more than one occasion...

If you choose to translate any of my articles, you may do so. However, I have one requirement. The copyright notice must also include my name. Also, I have an updated biography. If you choose to use any of my work, please email me. Chances are I, or any other author might have post-article comments that would be valuable. Often, I had found better ways to do things after an article was published. And certainly, I don't want an invalid biography published.

Bottom line on this issue..Pinnacle does not have the right to unilaterally assign rights to reproduce this work to you. As Mr. Koziol pointed out, most authors won't care. However, I cannot speak for them. My guess is that the authors would also like their copyright interests clearly stated in addition to Pinnacle's copyright interest. What formal interest Pinnacle has might be a topic of debate. However, that is one that I am not going to engage...

Best Regards,

>After an exchange of mail with Whil and with Farion Grove (Executive Editor of IT Pinnacle Publishing), I am granted to create a Romanian Web Site where to repost Romanian version of all articles at FoxTalk.

This permission is granted with the understanding that there will be no financial exchange involved, and you will be offering the content in Romanian only (no English version) at no charge to your viewers. We would ask that you include on your site notice that the copyright of the material is held by Pinnacle Publishing, and that the content was originally published in Pinnacle's FoxTalk, with a URL pointing to the FoxTalk site."
