The control is set Enabled = .F. in it's properties so that it only shows itself when I call for it (when there's an appended record to the grid's recordsource). Would it refresh after an update? Even so it should still exist. Besides, that should have nothing to do with the container, Column1.

This sounds like the situation that occurs when you rip the RecordSource out from under the grid. If you set the grid's RecordSource to "" before the Tableupdate, and set it back again afterwards, does that solve your problem?
