Seems to me that JVP is granting his permission for the work to be used, which he does not have to, and is stating the legal position. There is nothing there to find objectionable- actually the opposite IMHO.
Why does the thread continue?
Since people are talking about IP, one of the US software patents I hold personally is 08/408,603. It was a rotten, expensive, prolonged struggle to get there. Even coming from a legal family the US lawyers enraged me by filing everything in little dribs so they could charge more fees, and by sending dopey letters for which they then charged.
I did not know JVP was seeking a legal qualification. john, you won't be like that, will you? <vbg>
