Yes, this is the name of my database. I went back into the Net8 Easy Config. I changed it it IPC which is local database. I don't see anything at all for Bequeath. The SID did default to ORCL this time though. After having done this if I test the Oracle ODBC driver I get a General Error and the same when I use MS's.

>Is this in your Personal Oracle database? If so, you need to delete the CashMgmt entry through the Net8 Easy Config. Then re-add it as a new entry called CashMgmt. The Protocol is Bequeath, and the SID is ORCL.

>>HI Mark, thanks for the reply. I'm brand new to Oracle having come from an SQL Server shop previously so this is all new to me. Yes, I used the Net8 Easy config to create that name. I came up with that name because I am going to be working on a Cash Management application and thought I would try and name things accordingly in case I make a real mess of things and don't know where anything is after a while. Here is what I have in my TNSNAMES.ORA:
>>
>>CASHMGMT =
>> (DESCRIPTION =
>> (ADDRESS_LIST =
>> (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = g_simmons)(PORT = 1521))
>> )
>> (CONNECT_DATA =
>> (SERVICE_NAME = cashmgmt)
>> )
>> )
