I've heard about it, but it's never happened to me.

2 suggestions until MS comes up with a fix:

1) get a UPS or use a laptop to alleviate the power problem
2) use VSS. It comes free in the box with visual studio enterprise and it gives you several great features in addtion to keeping backups of every version of every file. Integrated with the VFP IDE, it's pretty easy to use.
