If you do this, I assure you the road will be long and hard.

The most important thing is specialize in one thing that you do well, and become the best person in that area. You can do this even while you are working for someone else.

When you do this, and get your name out there and really help your clients, you will have plenty of bizness.

It takes good marketing skills, and if you don't have them, or don't develop them, you are better off working for someone else. This is not a put down, it simply the truth. Some people just don't like doing what it takes to build a network of contacts and clients.

To go solo requires equal amounts of technical and marketing skills. Both are required.

I never have a problem getting clients because a) I am very good at what I do. b) what I don't know, I am honest about and don't take up those jobs, c)I make the client happy, whatever that takes.
