I think it's something funky with the SEM. I was never able to demostrate it in class. Try using the RESTORE DATABASE and RESTORE LOG commands

RESTORE DATABASE databasename FROM dbbackupdevice WITH NORECOVERY
RESTORE LOG databasename FROM logbackupdevice WITH STOPAT = 'yyyymmmddd hh:mm:ss', RECOVERY
