I don't think the grid has any problems with cursors/relationships. I use them regularly in places where I don't want to use views for some reason.

First you might want to check your data after setting the relationships to be absolutely sure you HAVE data for the grid to show - I've set my relations wrong often enough and ended up with empty cursors.
