Be careful how you inclusive or exclusive you are with regard to cost. Most folks under-estimate how much their apps really cost.

FWIW, I can write DB apps quickly in VB and I can do it for a small cost via Jet/MSDE. And for most, SQL Server is a justifiable cost.
