I experienced problems with older Novell Systems, but have not experienced any problems with up to date and stable sytems of any type. As you have correctly surmized, 'Up To Date' and 'Stable' are the operative words here. Data analysis is my strong point and most problems that ever occurred for me in the last 12 years or so were data related, meaning that in 99.9% of the cases either the server crashed causing data corruption or an app was allowing garbage into the tables. Just a quick point, it is usually a better idea to build NEW indexes after cleaning the data than REINDEX if there is an index problem. REINDEX will sometimes just recreate an existing data corruption problem. All of the tools mentioned in this thread are good tools to use in case of a problem.

>Well, I certainly want to keep an open mind if I have data problems to troubleshoot...I'll keep your points in mind. On Novell's site, there is a variety of reported problems, with solutions ( many of which seem to be 4-5 years old).
