Are you looking at the MSDN - > Platform SDK -> Management Services -> Windows Management Instrumentation. There is a lot of information here to help you get started. All you need is a lot of time to read and attempt. Once you have an understanding of it the sample get you the rest of the way. It is powerful too. I am currently creating a ASP web based system to monitor/maintain the MGM/Mirage network (about 300 Servers and over 2,000 Workstation all over the country), luckily they already have everything in place for the 4,000+ bricks.
