It reminded me of the old @x,y slewing from my DOS daze. I'm a newbie to most of Windows features. BUT, I liked using the GETOBJECT/CREATOBJECT feature to (sort of) "RUN" (at least) Excel and Word.

I can "RUN" word, or I can CREATEOBJECT word. AND, I don't know enough to explain why, or determine whether I could/should "RUN"/GET/CREATEOBJECT with other apps on the desktop. I think it's a COM/VBA thing and just scratching for hints. Ya know what I mean?

Terry,

Both Excel and Word (as well as other Office components) expose their functionality as COM objects, with a set of methods and properties. Not all applications do this. The Paint program is an example of an app that doesn't. This functionality, if present, should noted in the application's docs.
