Well, it has been some time since we talked about the changes in the IRC server, and let me say, the attempt at order has resulted in chaos.
Whatever happened to the possibility of one of us getting op in the chat room? I email Michel. No response.
One of the purposes of locking it down was the whole topic issue (acutally, it was called the MOTD, but that is not correct. The MOTD is issued when you logon to the server, the topic is displayed when you enter a room. only a Sysop (not a chanop) can change the MOTD). But anyone can change the topic to anything they want.
No one has OP status during the lectures either.
We have people in there signing in multiple times under multiple names. We have people being rude and demanding help even thought they don't even own a legal copy of VFP. Just about anything stupid you can think of happens.
What is the deal here? Are we to assume that the UT doesn't really care? I know that the IRC server is not the primary resource for VFP, etc, but for some of us, it is the resource of choice. It was offered, now it should be maintained.
