Let's not forget, despite MS's every attempt to kill it passively, VFP won't die. VFP is, whether some companies realize it or not, a vital component of the Visual Studio.

I am by no means advocating that we chant "revolt" against anyone who suggests that VFP is dead, but we need to recognize that it's viability is going to be limited to various vertical tasks within larger companies. Unfortunately, this does mean one thing: every time a company decides to abandon VFP, it probably won't go back. Inexperienced VFP developers are frustrating to deal with (as are any inexperienced developers) and experienced developers are generally paid more than their VB counterparts (usually because they're harder to find).

I would suggest that "moving on" should not be an option for anyone. Knowing how to develop in VFP will always be an important skill. You never know where the opportunities lie. Learning VB and (gasp!) VC++ or (shock!) Java are things that we should all consider, not as a focus, but at least be comfortable developing simple apps in those platforms.

Frankly, IMHO, Evan is worth his weight in gold: someone who can adeptly program in both VFP and VB. To me, that's the best of both worlds, he can creat killer data apps as well as killer processing apps.

That's JMHO: Don't be afraid of the future, move agressively towards it with open eyes and an open mind.
I try to stay online, to get better information.
I try to get away from the office once in a while..
But they KEEP... PULLING.. ME.. BACK.. IN!!!
