>Hi John,

>I've searched the web and found several like VinAssist. The volume of data that needs to be checked and automated is too much to use VinAssist. We are looking for an electronic file that we can import or check against on site to fill in certain fields based on the VIN, and check to see if it is a valid VIN.

>Thanks for the info though. Are you going to DevCon and brave the elements? I don't like Miami especially in hurricane season, so I won't be there. Looks like you will have to find someone else to organize the dinner party. How about WhilFest?

Sorry, I went to New Orleans under protest (Jefferies, Alden and Miller twisted my arm). I'm going to Miami because it's the "big one." I don't think the Attorney General's office will spring for a third conference this year.< G >
Maybe I'll catch you at a conference next year. Hopefully, it'll be out west somewhere nice.

>>We use a program called VinAssist. It comes from an insurance consortium called NICB. You plug in the number and it tells you what's what or if it's bogus. I think it is law enforcement or insurance company only though.

>>If you do a search on vin and decoder you'll get quite a few responses. Here's a link to a page that allows you to input a number and it will return your vehicle info:
