Hi Jason.....

>>It seems that no matter how much correspondance is sent to Michel, Evan, or >>whoever this issue gets passed to, nothing is ever getting done.

Thanks for expressing your felt experience. In my experience I've found Evan to be helpful, curtious, friendly (gee..he's starting to sound like a Boy Scout) and a positive addition to the UT. This does not in any way attempt to invalidate your expressed feeling it's just that my experience has been different and I wanted to say so.

>>We have the same discussions with Evan and Michel over and over again, and >>every point we make is being ignored.

Again, I've never felt ignored here at the UT by Evan or Michel. Perhaps they may not respond as you would like or as fast as you would like but ingnored.... I don't think so.... (ok congregation who did I steal that line from? < s >)

>>The need for a manager was once again demonstrated tonite during Craig's >>presentation when a lack of moderation let anyone talk at will,

Understood and I'm sure this can be frustrating. Perhaps we should think about this.... have the presenter make a document presentation..... have those interested in the subject read the doc and prepair questions for a scheulded chat a few days after the doc is presented.

>>The time for the political bullshit is through. You can't do business like >>this, and the UT is a business.

And your investment is ________ ?

Since January, 2000 you've posted 99 messages.
30 of them had to do with the chat situation
30 are some kind of reply and
39 are questions that you asked.... and probably recieved answers too! < s >

>>If you are going to provide this service, manage it or get out of the way. >>Yes, it is your system, but when is the last time anyone has seen Evan or >>Michel there providing assitance or maintaining order?

I have never waited over one day for a response to ANY problem that I've presented to either of them.

>>Michel and Evan: I told you that I would show you how to setup an IRC server >>correctly, but I am not about to just write a config file and give it to you >>blindly.

Not sure about the "blindly" but your comment brings to mind this thought.... Why not write a config file for them? If you really want to help?

>>will not have to put up with the lame harrassment and general chaos that you >>find on the UT IRC server.

This series seems to be new and they are trying to get all of the kinks worked out. I'm sure that they welcome constructive comments and all the help they can get.

You have a perfect right to your feelings and opinions but choosing to be a part of the problem and not offering any real solutions does no one any good and does nothing to solve the problem and I'd bet that you would prefer to be a part of the solution! < s >
