>As someone who is responsible for a fairly large investment in corporate IT and is also faced with a declining VFP prgrammer pool, the thought of introducing VB into the mix has crossed my mind. The biggest stumbling block for me would not be the programming language per se but the data. We cannot change horses overnight and many of our users are still in love with their FoxBase DOS apps. To say we simply convert all our data to Access is just a non-starter.

Hi Sam, PMFJI.
One strategy would be to create a set of COM components to access your fox data. Legacy applications could continue to access the table directly but new applications or new modules would go through the COM components. Once this is done you have a standard interface to your data and now you can hire VC++, VB, Dephi programmers to create your front end.
