I almost always run EXEs off a server, in both vfp3 & 5, after doing workstation installs for dlls and other files. If I had to have all my users run a new setup every time I made a slight EXE change, they'd string me up. (Eventually when an EXE is REALLY final, then PC install can be done). But I suspect your error is something else...

Agree, that the reason is different (I guess it's purely network/server problem). However, MS is right telling that local EXE is right way to install. Actually, you have to install distribution package locally just once (and Netsetup is very fast). When you make future changes in exe, you just replace one .exe file on local workstations. Depending on how many users you have, you can do it to your own, or ask network admin to broadcast it.
