Your technique gets me _almost_ there...

It all works great except for the pgfooter. If I make the pgfoot band large enough to get its fields up out of the bottom margin area, the pgfoot fields print but the the whole background image won't print. If I then reduce the size of the pgfoot band, the image prints again, but not the fields. Either or. Dunno why, tried several things in the .frx file directly and through the normal report designer.

Other than that, the pghead and detail bands work fine, and on forms without pgfooters, this is the way to go.

Had another idea as I was wrestling with all this: scan sections of my form into three files, one header, one detail, one footer. Then just plop the 3 images into their respective areas of the report. Works pretty well, except for the 'empty' area below the last detail line and above the pgfoot area, but maybe that can be overcome.
