>Basically I replied because the more I look at this place, the more I find complete arrogance on the part of the main posters. It seems that many people have a very narrow minded viewpoint, where they are right & everyone else is wrong. Just because you personally would find it difficult to program in a particular style does not mean that anyone else would. Other people may wonder at your inability to cope with such trivial matters as you raised. Just because you may have some degree of experience, does not mean that your approach is the only way.

I've never said or implied that it was the only way. This, however, was not a matter of style, but rather technique. There's a big difference. And BTW, I have more than a small degree of experience.

I have always endeavored to treat people with the same amount of dignity and respect, regardless of my perception of their skill level, that I wish to be accorded. If I see something that I believe could lead to a problem or danger, whether in dealing with computers or in real life, I point it out. I do so because I'd want the same done for me.

>The place is difficult to navigate & any newcomers are regularly abused for asking the wrong question. Just because someone is new to VfP & has difficulties with finding which functions to use does not mean that they have no experience of programming.

This has nothing to do being open-minded. It's a matter of principle. As I said earlier you're entitled to your POV and I to mine. Yet you apparently perceive this as arrogant. In short, fail to afford me the same respect that I've afforded you. You claim concern for how others react to a given post, yet indulge in that self-same lack of concern and respect for how I feel. Finally, on two separate occasions I've indicated a desire to end this, and you've failed to have respect for my feelings there.

There's a word for saying one thing and doing another...

Have a nice day,
George
