>You can say that again. Though I'm a foreigner, I'm looking at the election with great interest. I've abandoned my usual soap series and whatch the latest news about the election, much more fun :-). The situation in Florida is hopeless. where to go from here ?? Al gore won't accept the results until federal investigations concerning Fraud and invalid ballots are finished. George Bush won't accept the results when he loses. It seems that this a draw !! If I were the US goverment I would do it all over again (see which candidate has the largest budget ;-)

>From the local news I understand that Bush accused Gore about being a bad loser. Well I want to see him if he was in the same position. I think Bush would be even a worse loser. Give me a break.

Not by a long shot. Typically in this country, the Democrats play the race cards, use fear tactics in their speeches, perpetuate class envy, target the right people for tax relief, etc. Bush rightly thinks all people are the right people. Be careful who you blame for being divisive.

I would like to point out the Senator that lost a very close race in one of our States [Missouri] to a man who died about 3 weeks ago. The other controversy in that election was that a Democrat Judge ordered the polls in St Louis [a highly Democrat city in Missouri] to stay open until 10 pm [3 hours AFTER the mandated close of ALL polls in that State]. Another court shortly shut down the polls around 8 o'clock. While that extra hour of voting could have caused the loss, the Republican candidate graciously conceded the race.

>Besides this, many of us europeans don't understand why Bush is that popular:
>- He did nothing of any importance before he was 40.

Nothing was made of Gore lying about smoking marijuana well into his 20s. Gore has done nothing in the private sector so one could assert he is clueless about living in the real world. He was raised in Washington DC while his dad was a US Senator. Contrary to popular belief Government does NOT create jobs. All Gov't can do is create an atmosphere conducive to economic growth.

>- He had (has maybe ?) a drinking problem.

He no longer drinks any alcoholic beverages. See Gore marijuana problem above.

>- He was being rude at a journalist in public

Not true. He was talking in private to his Vice-Presidential running mate when someone intruded on and overheard the conversation. His right to privacy at that moment was infringed upon.

>- He can't seem to get the words out right

And he pokes fun at himself about his faults and sincerely tries to correct and learn from his mistakes. Gore denies all his.

>- He does not have the intellect, intelligence and experience Al Gore has.

He has the experience of governing a State that if it were its own coutry would have one of the top 10 [I believe 5th] largest economies in the world. I judge the abilitiy of a person to govern by their ability to unite and surround themselves with the highest quality advisors and Cabinet members. Gore and the Democrats have preached the politics of envy and divisiveness. Bush has campaigned [and practiced in Texas] the politcs of uniting and inclusion.

>- He is a forestander of the death penalty though it is proven that are numerous cases where the prove of guilt is at least doubtfull and the judgement seems to be based on race or other ethnical status.

No. Race or other status has nothing to do with whether or not someone committed murder. That is a totally ridiculous arguement perpetuated primarily by race-baiters who are typically Liberals looking for media coverage. There has been no credible offering of reasonable doubt of guilt or valid proof of the innocence of anyone executed in Texas. There have been many causes blown up in the media by celebrities and special interest groups, but none could produce credible evidence. They only played upon people's emotions. As the highest elected official of the State, Bush is legally sworn to uphold ALL the laws of this State, not just the ones he likes. The same can not be said about our current President and Vice-President.

>From our standpoint, this only can happen in the US......

... God Bless America! I would live no place else.
