A relatively simple system could use an Internet-only touch-screen box to record the votes, print the final ballot if a paper one is required, and report the results back to a central repository. A printed ballot would also allow for write-ins. Registration confirmation could (and should) be done thru a separate box, again hitting a central database, which would also allow a voter to go anywhere (we have a big problem here in Texas with folks not knowing what precinct they are registered in).

Daniel,

ALl good points.

My attempt here was to provide multiple methods of 'cross checking' where fraud could either be totally circumvented or prosecuted after the fact.

Perhaps one could, rather than printing a voter's name on a ballot, could print some other identifiers ties to their mag stripe card?

Just musing on the keyboard...
Best,
