Peter,

Bummer... <g>

Indeed? Hadn't heard that one.

>Do you (by any chance) happen to believe that global warming is real? (I do.) Recent papers have said there is a real chance of run-away (positive feedback) warming. Three possibilities: cold soils such as tundra put out more CO2 as they warm; snow covered areas absorb more sunlight as they become vegetated; and large areas of Amazon forest may die off if they become drier.

I have serious doubts, based on a little reading I've done of the writings of the late Dixie Lee Ray, governor of Washington state that there's far too much stock put into human abilities to affect the environment as much as some think.

As some have suggested, one belch from a volcano effectively spits out as much sulpher as a whole year's worth of man's efforts.

Mind you, I think man should be more responsible but I do not favor some of the absolute goofiness that I've seen.

>Now, assuming you do not dismiss this as tree-hugging propaganda, you may agree that we will need to decide on some serious changes at the federal and international levels.

Nahh.. Tree hugging propaganda. <g>

I do not favor allowing international bodies to dictate our laws and regulations.

Until the wind changes and you get a dose of lake stink. <g>

Best,
