Two hard drive, generally no problem. Better Video Card (if on the list, no problem). No software (or limited software), just ask (phone order only).

I've had great experience with Dell (I've purchased one through them and my company has bought over 150 with them) Tech support is the best. I was going to build my own system (again) and compared prices vs purchasing and ended up going with Dell when they were running a free shipping and Free upgrade to the 991 19" flat-screen monitor. Ended up costing me only $50 more than building my own system, and now have 3 year parts warranty.

If you are still interested in building your own: a good place that I have dealt with is compuplus.com they generally have good products at very reasonable prices. Although do not get OEM items unless you plan on doing your own support.
