>That sounds pretty close to what I believe.<

Me too!

>Sure sounds like what I believe also. But, if you think about, it sounds exactly like something from a Ronald Regan speech, optimistic and pro-individual, and I don’t think this is the philosophy of most Democrats. But I don’t want to argue about, it is just my opinion. I could be wrong. <g>

You're not!

>>Let's be clear that Gore is _not_ a liberal. He's a centrist. <

Whoa!!! Reality Check! Did you read "Earth in the Balance"?????
Truman and Eisenhower were centrists.
Gore is so far off the left side of the political spectrum he's politcal view not even well known to most Americans. Outlawing the internal combustion engine. He's thinks streets filled with horse crap is cleaner? Emergency carriages will get to the hospital faster? Produce will arrive to market on time? Oh, you say, he wants to use alternate forms of energy. Electric cars and fuel cells, and wind mills. Renewable stuff. mmmmm... If we scrapped the all plant material off the face of our country and burned it for fuel it wouldn't last more than 4 months. Bio is out. Solar. Solar power towers are promising, but the mirrors would block the sun on who knows how many 'endangered species', so that's out. In fact, the endangered species of our country pretty much eliminates using any significant space for energy collection. Wind. Not much there. Only a few places are good enough to use as wind generator sites. But, the dead bird count at the bottom of existing wind mills in California have the PETA people on a rampage. No more wind generators. Oh, clean and safe Fusion reactors. Ya right. Any material becomes radioactive if its temperature gets high enough. Conventional nuclear fission energy plants. Three Mile Island and Chernobyl comes to mind.
Energy for America, and the rest of the world wanting to live at America's standard of living, is increasingly becoming a serious problem. Imposing a CARBON TAX on the USA is not going to help the third world. Redistribution of carbon is just as bad an idea as redistribution of money or the means of production. But, it's just like a Marxist to apply 19th century theoretical solutions to 21st century problems.

>Well I think he isn’t either one, he is strictly a politician. (Again I won’t argue and say that Bush is any better.) Who knows what Gore believes? He is like Clinton. He just checks the polls and is for whatever happens to be popular. He has spent his entire life in D.C. and has no sense of reality.

>I think Lieberman would be a much better president that Gore. Heck, I think Tipper would be better than Gore. At least they are real. They believe in something.

>BTW, I have both Hackers Guides and think they are great and I’ve ordered and look forward to the automation book but it hasn’t come in.
