>Aren't you the least bit embarrassed by all of this?

DD,

No I am not embarassed at all. Gore can ask for whatever he wants and Bush can ask for whatever he wants. It still remains that the votes are being counted. I can also bring up the Republican Sec. of State of FL who tried to ramrod a count through while a recount was being done. I personally have a problem when a county is recounting the votes and the Sec. of State, even though it is within her discretion, refuses to allow that count to be completed by extending the deadline to Monday from Sunday (likely because it may favor the other party). Isn't the goal here to get the most accurate count possible? Yes the dems tried to get some votes disallowed, they failed because the system worked. The republicans are also trying to get some votes disallowed by frustrating the recount process and they are, so far, failing too. GOOD!!! Both parties should fail at their attempts to control the outcome.

Folks can bring up whatever they choose as their own interpretation of this whole situation, but to me it is a count of votes that designates a particular winner by a margin that is well within the margin of error in the counting process. I mean, really, a margin of ~500 votes (if you use the republican numbers) out of millions.

I want to see this situation played out to the full extent of the process. Our constitution provides for resolving the situation. Our court system has the mechanisms to handle it. Let the process continue and work as it was designed.

IMO, unfortunately, no matter who wins this election they will govern under a cloud. Bush is not sitting by and letting this go on. The republicans are just as vociferous as the democrats. Neither party can hold its head up and say they are not involved in attempting to control this process.
