Time will tell - those tactics are great for rallying the troops, but not generally all that popular with the critical swing voters. They seem to have shorter memories, more emphasis on their personal lives, and those tactics easily backfire.

Look at the Impeachment gang from the House, a couple of primary committee leaders (like Rogan) got summarily dumped this election, almost entirely due to the Impeachment issue.
