I know what you mean about being trusted by a client who was burned by several previous IDs. I have picked up several that have had bad experiences in the past. They are very cautious at first. But, when they began to really trust you, it feels great on both sides.
But, a lot of the deeper pockets seem to be quite willing to hand out large premiums to larger development firms. I don't think they are getting their money's worth in all cases, unless the "warm fuzzies" are worth a lot of cash.
