Thank you for your responses to my problem. Unfortunately the boss said "No flicker". I was going to implement the "picture" solution when I stumbled across the idea of using the SetFocus property. By setting the focus to the text box being updated I get the double benefit of losing the flicker and mainting the focus on the control being used.
