We have some DOS applications that used to run flawlessly on a Win95 operating in Server mode. Due the growth of the company, we moved to a Dell NT 4 Server about a year ago. We have a servicer that maintains our financial package (RealWorld version 8 something).
When they implemented the latest version of the software we have had numerous printing problems such as jobs just stopping in the middle and then restarting, then the loop starting again ... We have posting runs just locking up. We sometimes have Win98 workstations dropping their network connections in the middle of a process.
The Servicer applied SP6 on WinNT and the problems only got worse.
We have the Server set up as a peer file server (no domain). The Servicer says our problem is the way NT is set up. We took almost all the defaults in setting up NT, it's nothing fancy. No extra security. We're at our wits end.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
